ode to the rgb man
Sep 21st

i found this calvin and hobbs cartoon on my “cartoon of the day” widget a few days ago. as i was reading it, i couldn’t help but think about all those color theory classes with the rgb man (a.k.a. mr. whiteman). he would always have to explain things 4 and 5 times for us to understand and i’m sure there are some of us that still sometimes don’t understand what he was talking about. although when i am presented with the opportunity to share about color theory, it makes me sound really smart. i will never forget that question that had no answer, fuji color-art proofs, spectrophotometers, and that horse-shoe throwing, west virginian named mr. whiteman.
here’s to you rgb man.
my 22nd birthday
Sep 17th

friday was my 22nd birthday. wow. 22. i can’t belive i’m that old (but still young at heart and will be for a looong time). my family celebrated by going out to the one and only ron’s barn. they have catered events at caswell during the summer and they have the best bar-b-q that i’ve ever had. well they have a resturaunt in sanford and coats and we decided to go to the one in coats to celebrate for my birthday. we ate like gluttons, but i don’t care because the food was heavenly. we came back to the house and i opened some presents. i got a starbucks gift card, itunes gift card, two shirts, and some floormats for my jeep. after that we watched “the island” and called it a night.
last night, i got together with some old friends in raleigh. it was me, dave, steph, todd, and clay. we went out to outback and got some good prime rib steak. afterwards we went and hung out at dave’s new apartment. we had plenty of laughs and it was good to see all of them.
today we celebrated with the rest of my family down in sanford. my grandpa’s birthday is next weekend so we had a big family get together to celebrate. we had some good ol’ fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and of course my favorite, caramel cake.
but that’s not all. i’m stretching out my birthday celebrations as long as possible because i get to celebrate with my magan this coming weekend in boone. she had a retreat this weekend and wasn’t able to come down, so i can’t wait to see her on thursday. i get to go to crusade on thursday night and then friday we are going to go hiking at linville falls. my family is riding up to boone on friday so that my sister can visit lees-mcree college in banner elk. all in all, it is going to be an awesome weekend and i can’t wait.

apple gave me a birthday present!
Sep 14th

okay, so not really. i wish apple would send me a birthday present. i’d love to have the “iTv” that they introduced yesterday or a new macbook pro tricked out with all the bells and whistles. i will definitely have one someday. anyways, apple released iTunes 7.0 yesterday and i consider it a birthday present for me. sure it was meant for millions of people, but it just happens to be two days before my birthday, so i can be selfish. it is definitely the coolest digital music program ever. you can now download movies from the iTunes store and i believe “Cars” will be my first movie purchase. i know all you pc users can get it too, but it just doesn’t look as nice as it does on a mac, sorry.
other than that things are going awesome. we held revival at my church since sunday and its been really awesome. mike penry was the speaker and he definitely brought the word. work is going well too. i’m fixing to launch my newest project. i’ve been working on a website for my mom’s boss. his name is paul stam and he is the representative for the 37th district in the north carolina house of representatives, which is the district i live in. he’s a really cool guy and he’s up for re-election in november.
i’m really proud of myself for updating my blog more than once every two months. i think this is the 3rd time within two weeks. hopefully i will be able to keep it up. until next time…

the new bedotell.com
Sep 7th
announcing the brand new bedotell.com! say bye bye to the spacemen (and woman) and say hello to flash animations and grungy fonts. this project has been 9 months in the making. we thought that it would go live a long time ago, but i didn’t get to put a lot of serious work into it until after camp was over. it is still not 100% completed, but over the next few weeks and months we will continue to add content. some of the new features include an online store and a photo gallery, both of which are really cool. feel free to visit it and send me any comments or questions. hope you enjoy it!

it's labor day
Sep 5th

wow. it has been quite a long time since i have written in my blog. i’m just sitting here listening to a little shane & shane and relaxin’ after a great labor day weekend. i definitely stayed true to the holiday and didn’t do a thing. magan came down for the weekend and we just hung out with my family. it was a great time. we watched rv, cellular, and cheaper by the dozen 2, all of which were great movies. we did a little shopping and we visited my grandparents yesterday. all in all, a great weekend!
i would try to update you on the whole summer, but it would just take too much time and i know you wouldn’t want to read for days. but i must say that it was a great summer. the Lord taught me a lot of things and He allowed me to have an impact on my friends and youth from all over the state of north carolina. if you want to see a little bit more about my summer, just hop over to my flickr page and check out pictures from the summer.
for now, i’m just waiting patiently to see what it is that God has next for my life. it has to be one of the toughest things i’ve ever done, but i’m sure that it’s going to be so worth it. until then, i’ll just be doing the freelance thing. if you need any work done, you know who to call.
later,
matt
